At Christmas, we’re thankful for a Savior being born into this world. At Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for how God has blessed us and provided for us. On July 4th, we’re thankful for a country where we have great freedoms, such as the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. So many have given so much and many have given all for the freedoms we enjoy today. When we think about Washington’s soldiers in snow-covered battlegrounds without shoes; about the signers of the Declaration and how they put their lives on the line by signing that document; about the 11-year struggle to bring about agreement on a constitution for the new country, it reminds us that while we have struggles now, there have been even greater struggles in the past. I’m thankful for our country and for those who have fought and given their lives for our freedom.
